100-hp limit
Following the press conference held in Paris last Tuesday, a small update is required.
The power rating limit on machines taking part in the IRC championship has now been sorted out and some amendments to the current regulations have been made. As from the Portuguese stage, and only from then, free versions will be allowed for twin cylinder machines with a maximum of 1290 cc, three cylinder machines not exceeding 990 cc and four cylinder machines with a maximum of 690 cc. Those machines which may exceed these cubic capacities will have to comply with the 100-hp limit. As this amendment does not come into force until Portugal, the Belgian Dark Dog Tour (BDDT) is not necessarily affected and so will only be accepting motorbikes for which the maximum power rating does not exceed 100 hp.
Day Licence
It should also be pointed out that riders who want to take part in the Belgian Dark Dog Tour can do so by taking out a day licence for the three days of the event. When holding the draw, riders holding a day licence will appear on the scratch ranking but will not be taken into account for the championship ranking. In the case where a Belgian rider who has opted for a day licence wins the Belgian Dark Dog Tour, he will be able to take part in the rest of the championship if he wants to do so. He will then have to take out a FIM licence and his ranking in the BDDT will not be taken into account for the championship.
Stavelot only accessible on Thursday 1 May
We previously announced that the BDDT paddock would be located in the town centre of Stavelot, which was opening its doors to us for the event. Unfortunately due to the traditional festivities taking place around 1 May, it will not be possible for competitors to access the bivouac area before Thursday 1 May at 1.00 pm.
